A demanding but rewarding concert finale or first half finisher by Dan Price.

 

Commissioned by Philip Harper for the Cory Bands 2013 tour to Australia, Dreamtime draws inspiration from Australian Aboriginal mythology. The Dreamtime is a sacred era in which the Aborigines believe ancestral totemic (symbolic) spirits created the world.  The work is heavily percussive, includes a part for narrator and even includes a pseudo didgeridoo part created with the use of multi-phonics in the euphoniums and tubas however; a convincing performance of this work can still be achieved without the use of either the multi-phonics, narration and a carefully considered selection of the available percussion parts.
