Russian Folk Festival is a movement from my Continental Concerto. The concept of the Concerto was to take a whistle-stop tour, anti-clockwise, around the various musical cultures and places of interest in Europe. Starting in the UK we work through France, Spain, Central Europe and Norway before finally returning back to the UK to finish.

The work was intended as a follow-up, or more likely sister piece, to Romani Fire Dance - also featured on the Flowers Band's Stratos CD. As with Romani Fire Dance, this piece is a virtuoso technical display for brass band, with shades of the famous Russian melody Kalinka in the backdrop.
