Joyous, brilliant and full-on, this piece, originally for Organ, is as exhilarating as anyone could wish. Bach was often asked by his church employers to “tone things down a bit, please Mr Bach” and this Prelude is probably the kind of thing they had in mind. Mr Bach paid no attention !
