Liberate your brass band with the sounds of 1940’s swing! James L. Hosay has combined the styles of World War II era big-band legends Benny Goodman and Duke Ellington with the unmistakable sounds of Glenn Miller to create a swingin’ swayin’ piece you are sure to love. Salute the veterans of WWII with this rip-roaring throwback to the 1940s.
In the early 1940s, American G.l.s were sent to Europe and the South Pacific as part of an allied effort to halt the unlawful aggressions of the AXIS POWERS, and restore peace and stability to the world. They took their music and introduced the world to the first musical form that was truly and uniquely Amerièan. Jazz was born and bred in the United States, with roots in the rhythms and harmonies brought over from Africa and the Caribbean Islands. From its birthplace in New Orleans, it spread up through the Mississippi River to all parts of the country. In 1941, the most current and popular form of Jazz was Big-Band Swing. In his tribute to the Veterans of World War II, composer and 20 year U.S. Army Veteran, James L.Hosay has combined the styles of Big-Band legends Glen Miller, Benny Goodman, and Duke Ellington to create SWINGIN’ YANKS. No concert these days would be complete without a salute to the Veterans of WW II, and this rip-roaring throw-back to the 40s will have those G.l.s dancing in the aisles, as if it were V-Day all over again!
