Categories: Solos, SOLOS - B♭. Cornet & Band Composer: Kevin Bolton
Written for Williams Fairey Band by Kevin Bolton - 12 minutes.
The music has been written in the shape of the orchestral songs of Mahler and Strauss. The underpinning lines of the music are influenced by the Celtic folk idion - a kind of elegence born through simplicirty. The solo lines will take as much musicality as it is possible to give, which I hope will provide an enjoyable experience.
This work was premiered by Williams Fairey Band on the occasion of the band's Diamond Jubilee - June 28th. 1997 in the Qyeen Elizabeth Hall in Oldham, Lancashire.
The soloist was the band's Princip Cornet, Brian Taylor, for whom the score was written.
The work will be within the grasp of most cornet players of ambition, who will, I hope enjoy the "new shape" to the music along with the very important accompaniment lines.
