Eminence was commissioned by ‘Eminence Brass', for inclusion in their 2011 program at the Durham International Brass Festival.
It is an original composition by Christopher Bond who, at the time, was studying composition at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
The work is in ternary form; opening with a fast paced heraldic fanfare and theme which is followed in contrast by a slow and solemn paced habanera. A reprise of the opening theme, firstly in minor form and then in its original major setting, brings this jaunty concert item to a brisk conclusion.
Eminence aims to combine technical brilliance with the melodic quality of both the instrument and performer.

This work for euphonium quartet was written in 2008 for the Welsh euphonium quartet, Euphor, and was first performed by them in Cincinnati, USA.
It has been recorded by John Storey, Principal Euphonium for the Band of the Coldstream Guards, using multi-tracking techniques to enable him to play all four parts himself.
The work is a bright showpiece in a single movement; a fanfare-like motif in consecutive triads, alternating with more lyrical material.
