Inspired by rock-funk fusion, Thunk! is based on funk riffs and layers thereby experimenting with a style not freely associated with the brass band. Utilising the full range of the instrument, the soloist is presented with a devilishly difficult and mischievous part to play, with optional ad lib. parts allowing each soloist to be as wild and inventive as they dare! The work offers an intense and exciting stylistic challenge to band and soloist alike.
Thunk! was premiered at the Stroud Festival 2007 by Lucy Pankhurst with Wingates Band.

Solo for Eb. Horn from The Essence of Time - duration 3.51
Also available as a solo for cornet or flugel horn and band, the composer fist made this arrangement of the theme from The Essence of Time especially for tenor horn. At a time when dark clouds are gathering, and life becomes increasingly hectic, it seems to offer solace and resolve. This new arrangement should quickly establish itself in the repertoire for concerts and entertainment contests.

Toccata was written at the request of Owen Farr to add new contrasting material into the recital repertoire for the tenor horn. The work was completed in 2010 and Owen gave the premiere performance alongside pianist John Wilson at the International Brass Band Summer School in Swansea.
