Dance Monkey is a catchy song by the Australian musician Toni Watson a.k.a. Tones and I. Tones and I explains that the song's lyrics are about the relationship she had with her audience when she was busking on the streets of Australia: ""I wrote this song when I was busking, and it's about the pressure that I felt to always be entertaining people.”

The video for the song has also been a tremendous success. As of March 2020, the video has been streamed more than 825 million times on YouTube.

Danny Boy or Londonderry Air is probably the most famous of all Ireland's folk songs. It is unclear when or who wrote the melody line but the words most commonly sung to the tune were penned by Englishman Frederick Weatherly in Somerset around the turn of the 20th Century.

The true meanings of the lyrics are unclear and Weatherly never divulged their significance but it is most commonly believed that it is a message from a parent to a son traveling to war.

The song has been covered in a wide variety of styles including recordings by Glenn Miller, Judy Garland, Johnny Cash, Cher, Eric Clapton and Charlotte Church to name but a few.

This simple but effective arrangement will bring a touch of Ireland to any audience.

Commissioned in 2014 by the Flowers Band and premiered at the Cheltenham Music Festival in the same year, Dear Old Blighty is a creative arrangement of songs popular in 1914 and of those released during the World War I period. These songs were used to help boost morale both at home and in the trenches being performed by the popular singers of the day. Although not patriotic songs in the strictest sense they are commonly described as ‘the songs that won the war’.

The selection includes; There’s a Long Long Trail, It’s a Long Way to Tipperary, Oh! It’s a Lovely War, I Wonder Who’s Kissing Her Now?, Pack up Your Troubles in Your Old Kit Bag, Daisy Bell, and Keep the Home Fires Burning, all cleverly tailored together in the composers recognisably distinctive style.

Composer and trumpet player Michael Bennett performs the opening section of his lastest work for Brass Quitet, but also available for Bb. Trumpet & Piano - The Declaration of Arbroath.

The composer writes :

I composed this piece for trumpet and piano to celebrate the 700th anniversary of The Declaration of Arbroath, one of Scotland’s most important artefacts. The Declaration is in the form of a letter, in Latin, submitted by the nobles of Scotland to Pope John XXII on 6th April 1320 to confirm Scotland’s status as an independant, sovereign country.

After a short introduction on the piano the trumpet enters with a melody which takes the form of a Scottish Ballad. The accompaniment on the piano is simple chords which grow in intensity as the ballad develops. After the piano repeats the melody in the high register the trumpet enters with a recapitulation of the main theme. The Andante draws to a close with the trumpet being accompanied by simple but effective arpeggios on the piano.

The Allegro Vivo is in the form of a Scottish Jig and is based on the Jacobite song “Oer the Water to Charlie”.The Jig starts in 7/8 and develops through 12/8 and 13/8 giving the feeling of turbulence. After a quiet muted section the Jig returns in its full glory with the trumpeter showing his virtuosity.

Dig a little Deepe is one of the featured songs in the Disney animated movie «The Pricess and the Frog» from 2009.

The movie is a so-called «American animated musical romantic fantasy comedy-drama».

Randy Newman composed the music for the movie which features the famous Dirty Dozen Brass Band on several of the tracks. «Dig a little Deeper» is performed by Jennifer Lewis and Pinnacle Gospel Choir.

This arrangement for Brass Band by Svein H. Giske was written to Askøy Brass Band for their participation in the entertainment-competition Siddis Brass in 2015.
